After feeding the ducks from the top of the picnic table – those ducks will attack you for some bread – I got them all to be still for two seconds to get a picture. Kids are such a blessing and they grow up so fast.
Hope is almost 4 months now and is doing awesome. She get’s lots of love from her older brother and sisters.

Construction is happening right outside my window. The Children’s Ministry building is underway. Wow! I have a great view of the construction progress that is being made here at the NewSpring Anderson Campus. I come in everyday and see them hard at work, moving dirt, climbing on steal bars way up in the air. I have a view that will not let me forget for one second that construction peeps are at work here.
Guys, do you realize the view that we all get to have every week by being a part of NewSpring. The view that should not let us forget for one second that God is at work here. Don’t ever let your view get cluttered. We’ve got life construction going on here and it takes everyone together to make it happen.
Not all staff have a window view like I do. But they still see the construction, they can sense it. They hear the tractors beeping, they smell the dirt in the air, they feel the building shake. Volunteers may not always have a window view to the life change that is taking place. But you can sense it! You hear the stories of people accepting Jesus and marriages being restored, you sense the warmth and welcoming atmosphere as you come into the parking lot and then the lobby, you feel the love of Jesus that is being exemplified through every volunteer.
I may not have a view out my window when this new building is up. But I will still see the life change and God at work here through the people who build this church daily.

Handyman originally uploaded by sherry.moorhead.

I got this e-mail this week and thought I’d share…  (see more pictures here)

I just finished up an amazing Saturday morning doing a couple Handyman Projects. We built two handicap ramps, one here in Anderson for an 88 year old lady who is now permanently wheelchair bound. The other in Williamston for a couple who has a teenage autistic son who the mother had to carry in and out of the house daily. I have attached some pictures of some of the awesome NewSpring volunteers in action building the ramp in Williamston.

I love my job.
…as I was typing this, I received this email. From a teenager.

“Hey Jamie this is Joe. I worked with you and a few others at a handyman project this Saturday building a handy-capable ramp. I wanted to say thank you for the opportunity to do something like that. It was my first time building a ramp or pretty much constructing anything other than a boy scout derby car and i thoroughly enjoyed it. It started off as my dad asking me if i wanted to get some Nhs(national honors society) hours for school because were supposed to have 12 by the end of the 2 semesters but it ended up being much more than that. The reaction of the families face was priceless and the thank yous(which were unnecessary) were greatly appreciated, like my dad said “the pleasure was all ours”. I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity of working with great people and having fun doing something to help someone else, let me know when the next project is and you can sign me up.”

Now I can tearfully reiterate, I love my job.

Just finished reading this book by Craig Groeschel, pastor of Lifechurch.tv, and getting ready to go back through it again. I can’t get enough of it. This is an amazing book that has opened my eyes to a new and exciting way to look at my life. You can check out more details about this book here. This guy is real! This is one guy that I look at and hear him speak and know that he’s been with Jesus. There are so many things that he says in this book that makes my heart skip a beat. It is such a passion of mine to see people constantly pursuing God’s vision for their lives. I want all of the volunteers of NewSpring to realize their purpose not just in their service here but also their purpose in life, relationships, and work. I want to recommend that you get this book and read it. I can promise that if you read this book prayerfully and openly it will blow your mind. Thanks, Craig.

If you’re up for the challenge and excitement read this and let me know your thoughts.

Impact – Opportunity November 14, 2007

Filed under: Ministry, Volunteering — sherrymoorhead @ 1:22 pm

We are wrapping up our preparations for this Friday night’s Impact Celebration 2007. We will start rockin at 7pm and conclude with some fun desserts. We have some awesome prizes to give away along with something for every volunteer that you will need on Sunday, November 25th. Please RSVP to Suzanne.swift@newspring.cc if you have not already done so. If you’re a NewSpring volunteer, you don’t want to miss this.

The week of November 26th we will have many opportunities for you to join us as we decorate the atrium for Christmas. We will begin on Monday by loading the truck at the old true temper building and moving it here to the church. It will be unloaded and the tree will be assembled. For the remainder of the week we will be decorating throughout the day and in the evenings. We would love to have as many volunteers during the day as possible but if you are only available in the evenings that’s great too. If you’re interested in participating in making the atrium a winter-wonderland, please e-mail Suzanne.swift@newspring.cc .

Thank you all for serving along side us here at NewSpring. God is using each of you in a huge way to Impact lives for Him. Thank you for your obedience and your passion.

Who do you know? November 9, 2007

Who do you know that serves along side you at NewSpring?  Have you met anyone on the greeting team, the parking team, in children’s ministry, anyone who’s a Home Group leader.  Volunteer ministry is a relational ministry.  Not just between the volunteers and those we serve but also between each other.  Our connection with one another will build us up so that we can build others up and reach our full potential in ministry.  Our relationships with each other provide encouragement in our every day lives and accountability in our walks with Jesus.  I challenge you to introduce yourself to another volunteer that you do not know for the next two weeks.  Comment here to let me know who you met.

What pumps me up the most about what I get to do at NewSpring is my relationships with you.

Give us your thoughts October 25, 2007

In planning the last service of the year we would love to have your feedback on a couple of things. Here they are…

  • What’s your most memorable moment at NewSpring for the year 2007? Just a paragraph or two about the moment and why it was so special would be great.
  • What is your favorite song that we sing or that has been performed here at NewSpring? I can already see “Friends in low places” coming in first place. HA!

You can easily post a comment here or e-mail sherry.moorhead@newspring.cc to share your thoughts. Every vote counts!

I look forward to hearing from all of you and celebrating 2007 together.
