So, my seven your old daughter has been asking some pretty interesting questions lately. She accepted Jesus into her heart last year on February 10th. It’s so cool to see the fruits of the spirit in her life since that day. We were riding down the road and out of the blue she asks me “When I die and go to heaven what will I look like?” I honestly did not know exactly how to answer that question. She then said, “do you think I can ask God to make me 21.” She said she did not want to be all wrinkled and old looking, she wanted to look 21. What? Where did that come from? Interesting, hu? She’s seven years old. She’s already concerned about what she looks like, even when she gets to heaven. I think I need to spend more time talking to her about the inner beauty of who she is in Christ. I want her to understand that she is beautiful to Jesus, no matter what she looks like on the outside. Her beauty comes from her life and actions displaying Jesus. As women, even as young as seven, we think of beauty as looks. What our hair looks like, make-up, nails, clothes. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look nice and pretty, but these concerns can become idols in our lives. If our thoughts are consumed with being beautiful on the outside, we will neglect the true beauty the Lord wants to display through us. A beautiful woman loves Jesus, has confidence in the Lord and who He made her to be, serves her husband and family proudly, and displays the love of Christ in every part of her life. Girls, we may not always look 21 but we can always be beautiful!
She beautiful. She loves life. My daughter is seven. One thing that is very cool about her question is that she knows (she knows!) that she is going to heaven. Thank you, Jesus! Help me to teach and display to her what true beauty is.
