Peace, Baptism and tattoos March 28, 2008

So, much has been going on in my life lately and God is showing me so much through it all.  I’m really learning alot about putting total faith in God with every decision and situation that comes into my life.  Here are a few highlights from the past week.

  • My husband and I have always felt we would adopt a child one day and God said about seven months ago that it was time.  We’ve been pursuing through different avenues and as of Monday have a new addition to our family.  Things are not totally final yet so keep us in your prayer.  When things are final I will share more.  I’ve felt God’s peace and His hand on this the entire way.  We’ve always known that God knew the baby he wanted us to have.
  • My oldest daughter will be baptized this Sunday during the 9:15 service.  She accepted Christ on February 10th and is on fire for Jesus.  She’s 6 years old and telling kids in her class about Jesus.  She brought a kid in her class a few little bible books the other day so that he can read about Jesus.  She is up and ready to do her quiet time every morning before she goes to school.  It is so cool to see the fruits of the spirit in your child.  Wow, thank you Jesus.  One child saved, three more to go.
  • I’ve always wanted a tattoo.  Today I got it!  It’s awesome.

EASTER March 17, 2008

Unleash was amazing.  To all of the volunteers that were here for Unleash, I cannot say thank you enough.  You guys really set an example that will Impact lives across the country for many years to come.  I’m so proud of the example you set.  There was this excitement level in this place that is indescribable.  I have already heard so many comments about the volunteers at Unleash.  You guys really blew people away.  Honestly, you really blew me away.  It is an honor to serve along side each of you every week.

I said over and over again at Unleash “I can’t believe we Get to do this”.  Now, looking at Easter this weekend and seeing that we’ve already given out 12,435 tickets for five different services, I find myself saying it again.  I cannot believe we Get to do this.  We got to illustrate God’s passion to 2000 church leaders from across the country.  This weekend we get to illustrate God’s love to probably more than 2000 lost people.  Can we have that same energy level and contagious excitement this weekend that we had at Unleash last week?  We should have more!  When talking through this next series, your illustration is going to be the atrium design.  Your service is going to be the experience that sets the stage for the sermon.

Here’s the challenge.  Just as we were over-staffed at Unleash in every area of service, we want to be overstaffed for this series, especially this week with five services.

o       If you serve with us on Sunday already, can you commit to serve for more than one service for this weekend and possibly this series?

o       If you serve on a weekday team and would like to experience a Sunday team for a few weeks will you commit to come in this week and serve with the Greeting team in the parking lot?

o       If you served at Unleash and it was your first time serving, will you commit to come in and serve with the Greeting team this Sunday?

o       If you’re reading this and you’re a member of NewSpring church but not on a team yet, will you commit to first serve with us this Sunday?

We want to have a greeter at every row in the parking lot and possibly up the rows.  Have volunteers mingling in the lobby.  Ushers at every prime spot to guide people to their seat (to be ready to go to the balcony and overflow in the lobby).  Let’s represent like never before as we celebrate Jesus.

Contact your ministry staff coordinator or me at sherry.moorhead@newspring.cc to let us know which of the above commitments looks appealing to you.

Let’s go Rock this place for Jesus!

Unleash 2008 Impact March 14, 2008

Thank you, guys, for an awesome day of Joy. You guys blow my mind with your servants hearts. Thursday was incredible. Check out this e-mial I got today.
Hey Sherry & Sydney!
I hope you are enjoying your day off! Unleash was incredible (as always!) and our volunteers had a blast! But I want to brag on YOUR volunteers…
On the way to Unleash yesterday, I found out it was a volunteer’s birthday. We were already on the bus, though, and I was racking my brain for something we could do for her. During lunch I asked one of your stellar volunteers (I think her name is Christine – young with blond hair) if there was any chance you guys kept candles in VHQ. Within minutes, Christine returned with several candles AND a lighter and we were able to celebrate our volunteer’s birthday over a candle-lit Chic-fil-a bun! It was just ONE MORE example of how NewSpring volunteers EXCEED expectations and WOW guests EVERY TIME THEY SERVE! I am so proud of the volunteers at NewSpring! The Guest Services department really showed our Elevators how to improve their service! Our volunteers went on and on about how great NewSpring volunteers are!
NewSpring Vols – Thank you for all your hard work for Unleash! Thank you for sacrificing your time! Your IMPACT reaches far beyond what you will ever know! Yesterday you had the opportunity to serve over 2000 people whose job is to serve others. By ministering to them, you have indirectly ministered to multiplied thousands. You have IMPACTED how ministry is done all over the United States (and the UK!). What an honor it is to have met you! I hope you were as encouraged as we were by Unleash and I hope you realize how important you are! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Sherry & Sydney, your investment in your volunteers does not go unnoticed! I know the thousands of hours that have gone into the development of systems that will implement the kind of service we saw yesterday. Every time I visit NewSpring it gets better! You are doing an outstanding job!
So that people far from God will be filled with life in Christ!

Brandy

Also, look at this blog. Thanks for the Impact you are making on this world. It is a great honor to serve beside all of our awesome volunteers.

It’s tomorrow!!! March 12, 2008

We are soooo pumped about Unleash tomorrow.  We’ve had a ton of volunteers in the office all week making final preparations.  We have had to cap the registration at 2000.  Yea God.  How cool is that.  We have about 450 volunteers ready to go over and beyond to assist and welcome all of our guests from accross the country.  Can you believe we get to do this?  I look forward to sharing this awesome experience with each of our volunteers and staff.  Go Team.
