Unleash 2008 February 29, 2008

Filed under: Ministry, Volunteering — sherrymoorhead @ 6:55 am

We now have over 1770 church leaders from across the country coming to Unleash 2008.  There are over 350 volunteers ready to shine.  I will see all of the volunteers at one of the Unleash run-through trainings next week.

Thursday, March 6th @ 7pm @ NewSpring or

Saturday, March 8th @ 10:30am @ NewSpring

You will get the low down of March 13th.  We will cover the schedule for the day,  your job description, times to arrive, where to park your car, how to dress (yes, you will get your t-shirt at the training.  Yes, this is to try to get you there! ha, ha).  We want to make sure you are very comfortable with what you are doing the day of the conference so that your focus is on those leaders attending and you can enjoy the day to the fullest.  You will have a chance at the training to ask any questions you may have.  If you are not able to attend one of these dates, we will get you what you need to know.

I look forward to sharing this ministry experience with the volunteers, staff, and attendees.  God is so good.

Impact. a volunteer class February 28, 2008

We had our first Impact class on Tuesday of this week. We talked about what volunteering here at NewSpring is all about and how God has called and equipped each of us to build up the church together. We highlighted the opportunities to volunteer here in the church, shared some testimonies of a few volunteers, and looked back at where God has taken NewSpring over the past eight years.  Everyone then had a chance to mingle with volunteer staff and volunteers to ask questions and get more information about specific areas of ministry. With 35 sold out volunteers here to serve and set the example, 26 attendees were able to not just hear what volunteering is all about but they also got to see it.  Wow, only 26 people came.  Thankfully, yes.

This class has been brewing in my mind for some time now and the idea and concept is coming together. This first class was not promoted much on purpose because we really wanted to see if it would be beneficial to people. I also wanted to work the kinks out with the flow of the evening and the material. I’ve received some feedback from a few attendees and a few volunteers that served. We have a few things that we will do differently for the next one in April. I will be posting the exact date soon.  I can see this class being very beneficial in helping members with that next step and focus in ministry. It is my passion and deep desire to help people understand why they can and how they will help people, in this community and across the world, See Jesus.  NewSpring, are you ready to take it to the next level and see God do some amazing things?

If you served at or attended the class and would like to give some feedback or share just how awesome you thought it was, comment.
I love feedback and want this to be the best, most equipping, fun, cultivation of energy and excitement about volunteering ever experienced.
YEA, GOD!
I’ll keep you posted. – see more pictures here.

Yes, this is a proud moment too.

We want the back door of the church to stay open. The church is the body. If the back door of the body stops up, it is not good! We want the back door to stay open. Pastor P

Matthew 17:8 – When they looked up, they saw no one but Jesus.  That is our goal – that people show up to our church and see no one but Jesus!  –Pastor P

After serving alongside Perry Noble for about seven years, I had one of the proudest moments for him this past week. One of his long time desires was to one day speak at the Creative Church Conference, C3, at Fellowship Church in Texas. This came true for Perry this past week. It came time for him to go on stage and I thought I was going to throw up. As I looked down the row at him he was just chill-in. I don’t know how he does it. They introduced him and he walked on stage and had the crowd laughing within the first 2 seconds. He brought it! I felt like such a proud mama (even though he is older than me). Before it was over the crowd was on their feet clapping. Yes, he got a standing ovation. We are so blessed to have such an amazing leader. We serve an awesome God and He has anointed an amazing man to lead us. P, it is an honor to serve along side you. I look forward to what God is going to do here at NewSpring and I’m we’re (me and the volunteers) ready for whatever whenever.

Tony has a few notes about C3 you can check out here.

Impact. a volunteer class February 18, 2008

I know I’ve shared with many of you the thoughts of better equipping members into the volunteer field.  It is my passion to help people better understand God’s purpose for all of us in this amazing church called NewSpring.  I want to make sure every member of this church is fully aware of the opportunities available to them to use what God has placed in them for His glory.

Impact.  a volunteer class.  Will be Tuesday, February 26th @ 7pm here at NewSpring.  If you know anyone that is interested in learning more about what this volunteer thing is all about, invite them to attend.  There are no strings attached.  It is a very easy way to just come and learn more about it.  I know that all of our amazing volunteers have friends who are members but not serving yet.  Use this class as a tool to show them what it’s all about and what they’re missing out on.

Maybe you are not volunteering yet and have questions.  This is where you will get all the answers.  e-mail skye.thomas@newspring.cc to just let us know you’re coming.  See you there.

Jesus in my tummy! February 11, 2008

Filed under: Personal — sherrymoorhead @ 9:30 am

The best thing that could happen to a mom happened yesterday. My daughter, Jordyn, accepted Jesus into her heart. She is 6 years old and has a life filled with Jesus ahead of her. She kept asking me last night about if she messed up on accident and sinned would she still have Jesus in her heart. I told her she will always have Jesus in her heart no matter what she did. She looked at me and said, “wow, that’s incredible, Mom”. Yes, it is. As always there’s humor in every conversation at my house with a three year old child’s view. As my son, Jaden, was listening to us talk last night he proceeded to say, “when I get Jesus in my tummy I get to take baptised”. Then my husband just informed me this morning with a text that he said “you can get Jesus in your legs too, Daddy”. Jesus is truly everywhere. Yea God! Thank you for saving my little girl.

SEE February 8, 2008

I’m sitting in my hotel room here in LA California thinking about what I experienced last night at the Dream Center.  This place is simply amazing!  We had the pleasure of hearing a few testimonies of some individuals that live at the center.  They are on fire for Jesus after coming off the streets from drugs, prostitution, abuse, etc.  My mind is blown by the ministry and work of the Lord that is going on here.  Perry spoke at their Thursday night service and did awesome.  The people loved Perry and his humor.  It was one of the most passionate environments I’ve ever been in.  This has really put a new light on ministry and what we, as volunteers, do at NewSpring.  This has really stretched my thinking.  Are you passionate about serving people?  Are you seeing the life change that is happening at NewSpring?  It is my passion to help you SEE what God is doing through you to impact lives.  I can’t believe I get to do what I do.

Ordinary people February 6, 2008

Filed under: Ministry, Volunteering — sherrymoorhead @ 12:30 pm

The message Sunday was amazing.  If you have not heard the message yet listen to it here.  God uses ordinary people to do great things.  I think too often we underestimate our abilities and our potential to do ministry.  We are all ordinary, we all have a past that we are not proud of.  Don’t live in the memories of the past.  Break free from the bondage of guilt and do something for the Lord.  God wants to use you to do great things.  Don’t put it off any longer.  Go deep!  “You are only as deep as the last person you served in the name of Jesus” is how Perry put it.  What holds people back from becoming involved in the church?  How can we help people understand how God wants to use them to bring him glory?
