John Piper said “God created me – and you – to live with a single, all-embracing, all-transforming passion- namely, a passion to glorify God by enjoying and displaying His supreme excellence in all the spheres of life.” How, in this world, do we do that? Follow His example in everything we do. Pray and read your bible. He created us all, he knows how we tick. When God made each of us he gave us a gift to use for his honor.  Some gifts are more noticable than others. I cannot sing, play an instrument, or teach. However, through exploring opportunities to serve in the church I discovered my gift and passion. You may not know how to bring honor to Jesus at work or in the grocery store or when you are talking to your kids, but you can learn. Serving is an introduction to a lifetime of Jesus influence. In Romans 12:9-11 we are called to really love people, to be genuine, and to serve the Lord enthusiastically. Our Joy in serving and loving others displays Christ’s passion for people.

    Sherry,
Tonight at membership class I had an opportunity to speak with a couple about serving and where to serve. We discussed our talents or lack of talent in areas of service. I’m not really sure what my talents are and sometimes I feel I lack any talent all together. But as you have said and as I said in conversation tonight, God will develope talents a person may not know they have and those talents will influence people while bringing glory to God.

Amen Sherry!!! Serving at NewSpring has been a significant benefit towards pursuing my goal of continuously maturing spiritually.

While serving on the Production Team I am constantly reminded of NewSpring’s vision and provided an opportunity to contribute in the way God has intended for me right now, right here.

I am also surrounded by Godly people who have similar spiritual goals as mine. They motivate me, pick me up when I am struggling, and reward me with a shared love for what we are doing in God’s name.

And finally, by taking that first step to serve I have placed myself in an environment that will help me stay tuned in to God’s word and direction for how my service to Him may also grow and change over time.

Oh…did I mention we have a ridiculous amount of fun while serving our God and our church???? I wouldn’t trade my volunteer experiences for anything!!!

    See ya ’round,
    Chip
