Special Night For Volunteers September 18, 2007

Filed under: NewSpring, Volunteering — sherrymoorhead @ 9:48 pm

That’s right…we’re doing it again!

For those of you who attended our volunteer appreciation event last year, you know what I’m talking about. But many of you may be new to serving at NewSpring or from another church. Each year, we take one evening to let all of our incredible volunteers know just how much we love and appreciate them. We don’t let our volunteers do anything related to this awesome night…our staff serves our volunteers. Last year’s appreciation night included volunteers’ favorite songs by the band, a message from Perry, light dinner, some powerful videos, really great prizes, and more.

I’m not going to give any secrets away yet…but I can promise you that this year’s event will be just as special for all involved. Be on the lookout for more details very soon!

New Service Times September 18, 2007

In an effort to reach more people in Anderson, we are changing our evening service times. Beginning on September 30th, our service times will be 9:15am, 11:15am, 5pm, and 6:45pm. We are really hoping that many of our members and regular attenders will commit to one of the evening services to free up seats in the morning services (optimal times for first time visitors).

September 30th and throughout the month of October we will be encouraging families to try out the 5pm service with some incentives. We will feed your kids pizza before the service and ice cream afterwards. That’s a win for everyone!

The 6:45pm service will be specifically targeted toward our college-age and single folks. We know there are a lot of you…and we know that music is a big part of your lives. So, we’re adding a few more songs to the service just for you guys. The message and other elements will be identical to the other 3 services.

Please know that anyone is welcome at ANY of our service times…the special emphasis on families and college-age/singles at the evening times is simply us trying to free up some space in the morning services. Statistics show that unchurched and first time guests are most likely to visit at one of the morning times. So, thanks in advance for helping us reach more people for Christ by simply sleeping a little later and coming to church at night. Your flexibility in this area could truly make a difference in someone else’s eternity.

Hold on tight! God is at work and it looks like He’s just going to keep moving full speed ahead in our church!

Recently, we had an incredible baptism event here at NewSpring. We invited Home Groups to tailgate beforehand and then we baptized in 3 pools in the parking lot. 562 people went public with their commitment to Christ that night!!! It was truly an unforgettable evening. To read the article about it in our local paper, go here.

Let’s Do It! September 18, 2007

I’ve been thinking about blogging for some time now, and have decided to finally jump in! I plan to use this site to share what God is doing in the volunteer ministry here at NewSpring Church, my life, and the lives of those I minister alongside every day. I have the privilege of leading our volunteer ministry, and I’m learning and growing as I go. I hope this site will provide encouragement, insight, and a means of networking with others in similar positions.

I want your input on this journey…so please leave comments, ask questions, and feel free to bounce ideas off of me. We are in this thing together, so let’s do it!
